York Central School has an anticipated vacancy for the position of Senior Network Technician. This is a full-time, 12-month position. Tentative start date is January 6, 2026.
Wage of $16.00 - $23.00 per hour (based on experience); benefits per current contract.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is a responsible technical position
in the computer services field in which the employee supervises the installation/repair of all
network communications equipment. The employee manages the LAN/WAN network with
responsibility for network related performance monitoring, capacity planning, and server
maintenance. Work may be performed in the office and in the field. The employee works under
the general supervision of the assigned supervisor. Supervision may be exercised over technical
staff. A Senior Network Technician does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Schedules installation, replacement, movement and repair of all network communication equipment and software
- Maintains detailed information on all network problems, including statistics on vendor reliability and responsiveness
- Customizes, maintains and documents all network infrastructure equipment
- Maintains an on-line detailed record of all network hardware and software
- Evaluates physical environment for installation of computerized equipment
- Responsible for everyday operation of LAN/WAN and PC connectivity
- Maintains file and print servers
- Responsible for implementing, maintaining, and monitoring LAN/WAN network security policies
- Supervises assigned technical staff
- Performs other related duties as required.

CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of network capacity; good knowledge of applicable
operating systems; good knowledge of network communication equipment; good knowledge of
the operation and usage of computer and peripheral equipment; working knowledge of
electronics as it pertains to the installation of user equipment; ability to understand and follow
oral and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
ability to plan, direct, supervise and accept responsibility for the work of others; ability to
establish and maintain effective professional relationships with others; ability to test network
communication signals and identify problems; ability to train and mentor staff; physical
condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
